Meeting Minutes January 14, 2015



Hello Fellow CUOC’ers

Here’s the information from the January 14th CUOC Meeting.

CUOC Announcements

Our wonderful president Dave Desmond has a lot of great things planned for the new year. Highlights include gear expo’s, skill training, and an upcoming t-shirt sale.

We will begin to select 2 trips of the week starting next week.

We have lots of new gear to rent for your winter adventures. This includes, but is not limited to, skis (AT back country and cross country), snowshoes, micro spikes, and crampons.

Winterfest!!! Saturday February 7th at Seven Springs. There will be games, prizes, free food, music, sledding, a bonfire, awesome t shirts, and all around fun! More info to come.

CUOC Formal. February 6th. A splendid evening in the ADK Lodge. More info to come.

NOLS Course. THE BIG SURPRISE. Clarkson will be paying for 8 people to learn all there is to know about the outdoors with 10 days of backpacking and 4 days of rock climbing. More info to come.

Trip of the Week

None… But Adam Graham showed some sweet winter hiking photos from Phelps and Tabletip, Paul Doerner showed some sweet rock climbing photos from Joshua Tree California, and Jake Brown showed some sweet photos from ice climbing on Mt. Azure. Long story short, we have good fun.

Trips Going Out

Evan Tougas ( will be doing an intro to back country skiing trip on Sunday. He will be in the gear cage to setup the gear at 4 PM on Friday.

Dave Desmond ( and Adam Graham will be leading an intro to winter hiking trip on Sunday. The location will depend on the group going. You only need moderate summer hiking experience to go.

Jake Brown ( will be leading an intro to ice climbing trip on Saturday.

Andrew Toman ( will be leading a hiking trip up a Saranac 6er on Saturday.

James Guglielmo ( will be leading a cross country skiing trip at White Pine Camp

Dylan Gilgallon ( Will be cross country skiing the ROTC trails Fridays at 3:30 from the ADK Lodge.

Evan Bilsback ( is planning a skiing trip over spring break in the Chic Choc Mountains.


If you have Downhill or AT skis that you would like tuned, go to the Ski & Snowboard Clubs hours on Wednesday from 4-7

Patrick Conlon ( will be in the hiking gear cage Friday from 4-5.

Katherine Furland ( and Evan Tougas ( will be in the ski cage Friday at 4, but please email them beforehand if you would like to have your skis tuned.
