Hello Fellow CUOC’ers

Here’s the information from the October 14th 30th CUOC meeting.

CUOC Announcements

-Follow CUOC on instagram at cu_outingclub and don’t forget the tags #dontgetdead #cuoc #freshmanadamisthebestsecretaryever

-Stickers are here and up for sale!!! get the 3 different ones individually for $1 a piece, or all 3 for $2. Only available during meetings.

-Congratulations to our new Active Members: Josh Raboin, Matthew Borowiak, Meghan Vorhees, Troy White, and Lauren Carter.

-Trip of the week goes to Matt Dyers mt biking adventure. The group experienced epic obstacles, hospitable locals, and a dead snake…

-Email Dave Desmond (desmondp@clarkson.edu) with your detailed service hours and attended trips to become an active member.

-If you ordered a Patagonia sweater, an additional $7 will be due when you pick it up for tax and embroidery costs.

-Parents weekend is next weekend. Saturday the 24th will feature a hike up Azure in the morning and a BBQ by the boathouse in the afternoon. Show your parents what CUOC is all about.

– We will be doing trail work Sunday the 18th from 9 to 12. Meet at the ADK lodge. Our aim is to put up more trail markers, and re-route some trails.

-We will be taking our Tony Tuesday picture Friday at SoCo at 5:30. If you want a ride there we will leave Cheel at 5. Put on your suit and any other amusing outdoor gear to help CUOC win 1st place.

-Andrew Toman will be hosting a Sleep Systems (Bag, Pad, etc.) Info session on Sunday at about 12:30 in the CUOC house.

-The St. Lawrence rock climbing wall will be closed until Halloween.

– Patrick Conlon (conlonpc@clarkson.edu) will be conducting a bridge building service project the weekend after next. Let him know of you think you could be of benefit to this project.

-Dan The Man (jaremcd@clarkson.edu) needs help putting up a CUOC board to show off our club to campus. If you want to help him and get some service hours let him know.

Gear Hours

-The gear cage will be open from 12:30 to 2:30 on Friday. Please return gear that you don’t still need. (MICROSPIKES)

-Contact Paul Doerner (doernepm@clarkson.edu) or Miles Miller (millermp@clarkson.edu) and they will be happy to give out climbing gear (for going to SLU and State) with ample notice. Please return any gear that you are not actively using.

Trips Going Out: Open to all unless noted otherwise

-Dylan Gilgalon (gilgaledt@clarkson.edu) will be holding an  intro to mt bike riding trip on campus Sunday with ample interest. He will be riding somewhere off campus this weekend at some point as well.

-John Bilsback (bilsbaer@clarkson.edu) will be going to Old Forge for Moosefest, a white water rafting event to be enjoyed by all, on Saturday.

-Josh Valentine (valentjr@clarkson.edu) will be hiking Dial and Nippletop on Sunday. A ~15 mile trip.

-Ben Thompson (thompsbp@clarkson.edu) will be hiking the lower Great Range on Saturday.

-Dan The Man (jaremcd@clarkson.edu) will be backpacking into the Seward range Friday Night, hiking them Saturday, and hiking out that night.

-Dan The Man (jaremcd@clarkson.edu) will lead a caving trip of there is interest.

-Dave desmond (desmondp@clarkson.edu) will be leading an intro to rock climbing trip at SoCo on Sunday after the community service.

-Caitlin Skufca (skufcacr@clarkson.edu) will be going to Lake Placid on Sunday for a big mt biking event.

-Miles Miller (millermp@clarkson.edu) will be rock climbing both Saturday and Sunday

-Bridgette Bousquet (bousqubd@clarkson.edu) will be mt biking from the CUOC at 5ish on Thursday and Friday.

That’s all for this week. 8 CUOC meetings down, and still a whole year of rad adventure to go.
